Infiniti Refuses To Launch Q60 Project Black S Super Coupe With Formula Technology

Infiniti has ditched a powerful super coupe based on the Q60 Project Black S concept car with Formula 1 technology. About this with reference to the top managers of the brand reports the publication Automotive News.

• The decision on the project was supposed to be made in the fall of 2019. The long silence suggested a negative verdict. However, it was officially announced only now. The prototype was inspired by former Infiniti chief Roland Kruger. After his departure, there were no other people willing to move the project in the company.
• Dealers interviewed by the publication supported the decision: the brand needs a cash model, and not a deliberately unprofitable exclusive.
• Infiniti Q60 Project Black S was equipped with a turbocharged "six" 3.0 and three motor generators. Two of them collect energy from exhaust gases, one - heat. It is stored in a 4.4 kWh battery installed in place of the rear seat. In total, the power plant produces 571 hp.

• At acceleration, which allows you to gain a hundred in less than 4 seconds, the stored energy can help spin up the turbochargers or be supplied to the transmission. This scheme came from the world of Formula 1. Three driving modes are provided: Road Road, Power Quali and Race Race.
• A sophisticated power plant and transmission added about 200 kilograms of mass to the sports car. Therefore, to keep the weight within reasonable limits, the machine was lightened in all directions. The Infiniti Q60 Project Black S has a ton of carbon fiber parts, ceramic brakes and not many options. The car was developed in just a year and a half.
• In November, Infiniti unveiled the QX55 coupe crossover, which will compete with the BMW X4 and Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe models. The novelty differs from the soplatform QX50 with a completely new stern and suspension settings. The models will have one engine for two - a 2.0 turbo with a variable compression ratio, developing 249 forces in the Russian specification.
