Chinese Competitor Toyota Highlander Can Reach Russia With A New Engine

In China, the Exeed VX crossover (in Russia the brand is presented under the name Cheryexeed) began to be equipped with a new engine - more powerful than the unit with which the SUV debuted in July. According to "Chinese Cars", it is this modification that has the highest chances to appear in our country.

• The flagship of the young premium brand received a two-liter "turbo four" with a return of 254 hp. and 390 Nm of torque. Previously, only a 1.6-liter turbo engine was available for the model, developing 197 hp. and 290 Nm.

• Like the base engine, the new motor will be aggregated with a robotic gearbox. However, this modification received an optional all-wheel drive system, while the more affordable version has only front-wheel drive. The publication concludes that in order to simplify competition with potential competitors-classmates (including, for example, MazdCX-9 and ToyotHighlander), it is the all-wheel drive version of Exeed VX that will be certified for the Russian market.

• Earlier it was reported that Chery intends to start selling the flagship crossover in our country towards the end of this year. Now the Russian Cheryexeed line consists of a single model - the TXL off-road vehicle; it is equipped with a 186-horsepower version of a 1.6-liter engine paired with a seven-speed "robot" and an all-wheel drive system. Taking into account special offers at the moment, the crossover costs at least 1,999,900 rubles.
